Facial
Reconstructive Surgery
Figure
19
A 16-year-old boy was in a motor vehicle accident as a child, resulting
in destruction of the right temporomandibular joint (TMJ). As a teenager
he underwent jaw surgery (upper jaw, lower jaw, and chin) combined
with right TMJ reconstruction to improve his facial symmetry, proportions,
and mouth opening. He is shown before and one year after reconstruction.
